Trail Crew Lead

2017 CCF Trail Crew Lead Posting

The Trail Crew Lead will lead a five-member trail crew that operates primarily in the Tri-canyons: Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons, and Millcreek Canyon.  The Trail Crew Lead will be instrumental in coordinating the logistics of daily crew management and the implementation of a successful volunteer component.  

The Trail Crew Lead will lead demanding physical work in often adverse conditions with a positive attitude.  This position requires a combination of trail maintenance experience as well as a proven ability to manage staff, lead volunteers and organize partners.  

Full-time / Hourly / Seasonal (April-September): 40 hours per week. Tuesday – Saturday 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Sundays and Mondays OFF.  

Starting wage is $15-16 per hour.

Trail Crew Member

Trail Crew Members function on a five-member trail crew that operates primarily in the Tri-canyons: Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons, and Millcreek Canyon.  

Trail Crew Members will be able to navigate demanding physical work in often adverse conditions with a positive attitude.  This position requires a combination of trail maintenance experience as well as a proven ability to work with volunteers and organizational partners.  This position requires a team-first attitude, a willingness to learn and lead, flexibility with various work projects and conditions, and an interest and willingness to further the educational and outreach goals of Cottonwood Canyons Foundation.  

Full-time / Hourly / Seasonal (April-September): 40 hours per week. Tuesday – Saturday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Sundays and Mondays OFF.  

Starting wage is $12-13 per hour, depending on experience.

Invasive Weeds Crew Member

2017 Invasive Weeds Crew Member Posting

The Invasive Weeds Crew Member will work with the Botanist to combat invasive species, restore native plant populations and monitor rare plant populations in the tricanyons: Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons, and Millcreek Canyon.

The Invasive Weeds Crew Member will be able to navigate demanding physical work in often adverse conditions with a positive attitude.  This position requires a combination of invasive species experience and hiking ability as well as a proven ability to work with volunteers and organizational partners.  This position requires a team-first attitude, a willingness to learn and lead, flexibility with various work projects and conditions, and an interest and willingness to further the educational and outreach goals of Cottonwood Canyons Foundation.

Full-time / Hourly / Seasonal (April-September)  40 hours per week. Tuesday – Saturday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. (except Wednesdays May-July are 12:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.). Sundays and Mondays generally OFF.  

Starting wage is $12-13 per hour depending on experience.

Environmental Education Intern

2017 CCF Education Intern Posting

The Environmental Education Intern will work closely with the Operations Director and the Education Director within various areas of the Silver Lake Education Program, and in addition, may support other education and program efforts within Cottonwood Canyons Foundation. The Silver Lake Education Program involves greeting and interacting with the public, educating the public on the watershed and ways to mitigate impacts, providing naturalist tours to the public, and supporting program efforts at the Silver Lake Visitor Center as needed, which might include trash pick-up, light duty cleaning of the center, and various tasks as directed

Part Time/Seasonal (June-September) Schedule is flexible; approx. 10-20 hours per week.

Position is unpaid.

Plants Program and Invasive Weeds Intern

2017 Plants Program and Invasive Weeds Intern Posting

The Plants Program and Invasive Weeds Intern will work closely with the Botanist and the Invasive Weeds Crew member(s) within various areas of the Native Plants Program, and in addition, may support other stewardship and program efforts within Cottonwood Canyons Foundation. The Native Plants Program involves scouting populations, pulling weeds, restoring native plant populations, and the monitoring of rare plants in the tricanyons: Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons, and Millcreek Canyon.

Part Time/Seasonal (May – August) Schedule is flexible; approx. 10-20 hours per week.

Position is unpaid.
