Cloud to Tap: A Journey through the Watershed

Virtual Tour

Part 1 – Brighton Basin

Cloud to Tap is a virtual tour of the Big Cottonwood Canyon watershed, following the journey of a drop of rainwater from the top of the canyon to the Great Salt Lake. This tour is presented as a three part series. In each part of this series, you will learn about the Big Cottonwood Canyon watershed and the environment of the Wasatch Front. CCF Community Education Director Taylor Jones will be your guide on this tour. Look for Taylor to hear interpretive explanations about what you are seeing and suggestions about where to go.

Press play on the tour window below to begin your virtual tour. Use your mouse and the control panel at the bottom of the virtual tour to pan across the virtual environment and adjust your perspective. The virtual space is populated with icons marking points of interest. Click on these icons to interact with them and learn more about Big Cottonwood Canyon and the Wasatch Front. To hear a spoken introduction to your tour, click on the video icon above Taylor’s head in the first virtual environment (he is the hiker perched on a rock giving a thumbs up to the camera).

Additional tour instructions and resources for parents and teachers are provided below the tour window.

Virtual Tour Worksheet

Cloud to Tap was designed as an educational aid with teachers and parents in mind. It can be presented to a classroom as a group activity or assigned to students with access to a computer or smart device. The worksheet below has been provided for students in classrooms and at home:

They totally rocked it! We can’t believe how much work got done-so dang cool! 😎

We’d like to thank all those who came!
