Self-Guided Wildflower Walk: Alta

Location: Alta, Utah

Located in the alpine area at the end of Little Cottonwood Canyon, Alta provides some of the world’s best wildflower scenery.  Fields of wildflowers can be found in Albion Basin, while lower areas near the resort base produce local favorites such as Elephants Head and varieties of penstemon and paint brush.  Please consult resort maps at alta.com for the most accurate information.

When and Where to Observe Wildflowers?

Wildflowers in the Cottonwood Canyons can be observed from May to September, although peak wildflower season is typically during July. Individual species of wildflowers bloom at different times, making the wildflower landscape different every few weeks.

Lower Albion Meadows Trail
Length: 1.3 miles
Elevation Gain: 100 feet

█ MODERATE WALK

Upper Albion Meadows Trail,
out and back
Length: 2.8 miles
Elevation Gain: 1,100 feet

█ ADVANCED WALK

Cecret Lake
Upper Albion Meadows Trail,
turn to Cecret Lake Trail, out and back
Length: 3.9 miles approx.
Elevation Gain: 1,300 feet
