Hiking Route Descriptions

Beginner to Moderate:
Albion Basin wildflower hike - at a not so strenuous level - Local transportation will be provided (15 minutes each way) for a short hike in the Albion Basin near the peak of the mountain wildflower season. The hike is 1 mile up (2 miles round trip) and ends at the scenic Secret Lake. The trail is dirt/rocks, so be sure to bring comfortable and sturdy shoes. The hike is easy to moderate in difficulty: we will gain about 500ft in elevation. In addition to wildflowers, we will hopefully see wildlife such as birds, butterflies, moose, etc. Bring binoculars if you are interested in seeing these critters up close. Departure: Vans depart at 3:30pm from the front of Cliff Lodge near the Bell Desk on Level B

Moderate:
Dick Bass Gad Valley Loop - This lower mountain trail will follow the Dick Bass road up from the Snowbird center into Gad Valley with a gain in elevation of about 600ft. The trail down will turn into single track hiking, will pass by a waterfall, bridged creek crossing, and will have views into the Salt Lake City Valley. This trail will also traverse though forests at times. 1.5 to 2 hours. Departure: Meet on plaza deck, 3rd level of Snowbird Center. Look for hiking guides standing on picnic bench holding a sign for “Dick Bass Gad Valley Loop”.

Advanced:
Hike from the bottom of mountain to the top of the Tram at Hidden Peak - strenuous level. This group will hike from the base of the resort to the top of Snowbird's famous aerial tram! It is a strenuous hike! Starting at 8,100 feet and ending 3.2 miles later at 11,100 feet in elevation. It should take about 2 to 2.5 hours to hike up Peruvian Gulch and then take the tram back down to the bottom. Each hiker will need to carry about two to three liters of water, have sunscreen, and sturdy shoes. A small backpack would be helpful to take along the water, a light windbreaker, and definitely a camera. The views from the top of the mountain are breathtaking and plenty of wildflowers should be out at this time of year! Departure: 3:30pm from the Activity Center on the Plaza Deck.
