Moonlight Snowshoe Tours

Join us at Spruces Campground for a Moonlight Snowshoe Tour!

A volunteer naturalist will take you on a 2 hour interpretive hike, and will talk about winter ecology and the nocturnal adaptations of some of the canyon’s most elusive residents. Spruces Campground features gentle, rolling terrain that makes this tour ideal for any participant, whether you are a beginner or an experienced snowshoer.

Participants must bring their own snowshoes.

Headlamps are available to borrow.

Please note that tours are $10 per person and a link to our Stripe store will be included in your confirmation. If you do not pay for your space within 7 days of registering, your booking will be automatically cancelled. This program fee is non-refundable. We do have scholarships available, please inquire with Liz at [email protected].

Please meet at the Spruces campground parking lot at 5:45 pm.

It is 13 miles up Big Cottonwood Canyon, and you will see a sign on the Right to take the Right turn.  We will meet you there.

Snowshoe with a Naturalist – Alta Earth Day

Join us for a special Snowshoe with a Naturalist tour in support of Alta’s Earth Day Celebration! Join us for a guided interpretive snowshoe tour up Alta’s Summer Road. The route is groomed trail, but please be prepared for an uphill hike with moderate elevation gain.

Please note that participants must bring their own snowshoes, and are responsible for their own transportation to and from Alta Ski Area. More information can be found at https://www.alta.com/events.

Wasatch Wildflower Festival 2023 Alta

Held annually, the Wasatch Wildflower Festival is a multi-day event hosted at the four Cottonwood Canyons ski areas to celebrate the beauty and diversity of wildflowers in the Wasatch Mountains. Guided and self-guided wildflower walks are offered from 9 am to 1 pm, and other organizations offer exhibits, as well. The 2023 Festival will be held on the following dates and locations: July 8 (Brighton Ski Resort, in conjunction with the Brighton Institute’s Brighton Days), July 9 (Solitude Mountain Resort), July 15 (Snowbird Ski Resort), and July 16 (Alta Ski Area). The event is free, but registration is required. Registration will be open in May, please check back.
