Wasatch Wildflower Festival (Snowbird)

The Cottonwood Canyons Foundation and partners are excited to invite you to join us for the annual Wasatch Wildflower Festival. On July 17, the Festival will be held at Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort (meet at the Plaza Deck of the Snowbird Center). The Festival is offered free of charge, but registration is required. Please register here: Wasatch Wildflower Festival 2021 Registration (Event ended). Please complete the registration and bring the Confirmation Email with you to the event (print copy or display on your device/phone). The Festival is held over four days: July 10 at Brighton Ski Resort, July 11 at Solitude Mountain Resort, July 17 at Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort, and July 18 at Alta Ski Area. Guided walks and activities will be offered at each resort.

Solitude Kids Day

Co-hosted by Solitude Mountain Resort, and held at Solitude Village, Solitude Kids Day is a free event, providing hands-on activities to engage children and their families in a wide variety of nature topics and citizen science opportunities. This event is free of charge, but registration is required.

Snowshoe with a Naturalist

The Cottonwood Canyons Foundation is proud to partner with Alta
to offer naturalist-led snowshoe tours through Alta’s famous powder!

Join us for a 2-hour tour to learn about the unique history of Alta and about the flora and fauna of Little Cottonwood Canyon. The tour route goes up the Alta Summer Road, so please be prepared for an uphill hike with moderate elevation gain. Participants must bring their own snowshoes.

Meet at 1:15 to the Left of the Albion Grill.

Ski with a Ranger – Snowbird

Participants join Volunteer Naturalist Rangers on the ski slopes
to learn about the Cottonwood Canyons’ geology, history,
winter ecology, watershed, wildlife, and more.

These free, guided tours frequent only easy or intermediate ski runs and last approximately 45 minutes. A lift ticket or pass is required. Participants must be able to ski beginner and intermediate terrain proficiently.

Tours are offered at 1 pm.
Please meet at the lift-level back patio of the Creekside Lodge at Snowbird Resort.

Moonlight Snowshoe Tour

Join us at Spruces Campground
for a Moonlight Snowshoe Tour!

A volunteer naturalist will take you on a 2 hour interpretive hike, and will discuss winter ecology and the nocturnal adaptations of some of the canyon’s most elusive residents. Spruces Campground features gentle, rolling terrain that makes this tour ideal for any participant, whether you are a beginner or an experienced snowshoer. Participants must bring their own snowshoes. Red headlamps are recommended and some are available to borrow. Not recommended for children under 7 years of age.  Please meet at the Spruces campground parking lot at 5:45 pm. Please allow extra time for traffic. Spruces Campground is located 13 miles up Big Cottonwood Canyon, and you will see a sign on the right to take the right turn.  We will meet you there.
